LED Light Therapy

The human body needs certain wavelengths of light similar to the way plants need sunlight to thrive. LED Therapy stimulates the body's own cells to build new proteins the same way plants use Chlorophyll to convert sunlight into cellular building blocks. The infrared light produced by LED lamps, or "photo rejuvenation", stimulates fibroblast cell activity in the skin, which increases the production of collagen and elastin-the proteins responsible for your skin's tone and elasticity. Collagen plumps up the skin to fill in fine lines and wrinkles while the Elastin helps to firm skin that has began to sag.

LED stands for light-emitting-diodes. First developed by NASA, LED works by sending energy-producing packets of light into the deeper layers of the skin. Red light LED stimulates the fibroblasts that produce collagen, Blue light LED works by killing the bacteria deep in the skin that is responsible for acne.

Your skin has the ability to absorb infrared light and use it as a source of energy to stimulate cellular regeneration. Infrared LED light therapy, can help reverse and control the visible signs of aging and help you look years younger without harsh chemical treatments or invasive surgical procedures. Dramatic tightening of skin, smoothing of wrinkles and rough spots, disappearing blemishes, softening of redness, and shrinking of pore size can be achieved with this natural light treatment. The LED Light Therapy process results in skin that appears more youthful, smoother, healthier and more radiant!

Professional LED machines can also minimize fine lines and wrinkles, treat sun-damage and stretch marks, and reduce redness after more aggressive IPL or laser treatments. The results won't be as dramatic as plastic surgery, IPL or laser, but it's a painless, more natural, less expensive way to go.

LED treatments are painless, cool and relaxing, and unlike IPL or laser treatments, carry no risk of burning. An IPL treatment delivers a bright blast of light at very high energy levels through a hand-held device, and can be uncomfortable, even painful.

Depending on the type of LED machine it can take anywhere from five minutes to thirty minutes. Some machines have a small head (about three inches wide) that has to be held in place on the skin for a few minutes before moving on to the next spot. These treatments take longer. Other machine have a seven-inch square that the therapist holds over your face in three sections, so the treatment is done much faster.

LED treatments are a good choice for people who want to boost collagen or treat acne. If you want to treat brown spots, broken capillaries, spider veins, and diffused facial redness, you are better off getting IPL treatment.

In addition, it can be used to effectively treat minor muscle and joint aches, sprains, back pain, muscle spasms, and the pain and stiffness associated with arthritis, and more.

Both LED and IPL work best in conjunction with a regular skin care routine that you develop with your esthetician.
